Biography:
Leland O’Driscoll is an academic expert in earthquakes, wildfire and natural hazards, with a focus on real-time monitoring and hazard mitigation in the Pacific Northwest. He directs the Oregon Hazards Lab, which uses science, technology and community engagement to detect, understand and reduce the impacts of both natural and human-caused hazards. His work includes building and maintaining seismic and wildfire monitoring networks that provide critical data on earthquake activity, fire conditions and environmental change. O’Driscoll collaborates with federal, state and local partners to strengthen emergency preparedness and advance resilient, data-driven systems that protect communities.
