Biography:
Reuben Zahler is an academic expert on Venezuela and Latin American history. He studies Latin America from the colonial through modern periods as the region transformed from colonies to independent republics that embraced foreign ideologies of modernity. His current project examines women charged with violent crimes (assault, homicide, infanticide). The project has revealed the daily life and struggles of (mostly) working class people as well as the evolution of the judicial system.
