Biography:

Yizhao Yang is an academic expert in sustainable urban planning, land use and city climate action. Her interdisciplinary research examines how place, policy, and people interact to shape sustainable urban development and livable communities. Yizhao studies how cultural and institutional factors influence planning policies and how place-based sustainability strategies can be adapted across different urban contexts, with a particular focus on cities in Pacific Rim. Her work also explores how the built environment affects human behavior, health and well-being, including research on walkable cities, urban green spaces, sustainable food systems, and urban-rural connections.
