Following an 11-1 regular season, the No. 5 seed UO Ducks took on the No. 12 James Madison Dukes in the first-ever College Football Playoff game in Autzen Stadium history. With a 51-34 win, Oregon now heads to the Orange Bowl. There, the Ducks will face the No. 4 Texas Tech Red Raiders on New Year’s Day at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.

The game will be Oregon’s third appearance in the College Football Playoff, which crowns the national champion in college football, since it began in 2014. The Ducks were part of the inaugural four-team field in 2014 and defeated Florida State in the Rose Bowl to advance to the first ever College Football Playoff National Championship game. In 2024, Oregon ended a historic regular season, which included a Big Ten title and extended run as the nation’s No. 1 team, at the College Football Playoff quarterfinal at the Rose Bowl.
