Mia Tuan has accepted the offer to become interim dean of the College of Education, replacing Dean Mike Bullis, Provost James Bean said, in a recent message to the campus community.
Tuan will serve from Sept. 1 through to the appointment of a permanent replacement. Her work as dean designate with Bullis will begin this summer to allow for a smooth transition in the fall, Bean said.
A witness description has helped the University of Oregon Police Department create a sketch of a potential suspect in a string of burglaries in campus offices.
One or more thieves have broken into faculty and staff offices in Gerlinger, Lawrence, Anstett and Willamette halls, using a tool to pry open office doors and steal computers and other electronics. Ten similar incidents were reported between April 26 and May 23, usually occurring between 6 p.m. and midnight.

Sam Dotters-Katz — a student in the UO School of Law — on May 25 began his second term as president for the Associated Students of the University of Oregon.
In 2008, during his junior year as an undergraduate political science and history major, Dotters-Katz was elected to the highest student position at the university for the first time.
