The governor said she wants to work with the board to find a stable source of funding for higher education and continue recent gains.
A tentative contract agreement has been reached between Oregon’s public universities — including University of Oregon — and the Service Employees International Union.

Three academic buildings and two sports facilities are on the list of construction projects reviewed by the Finance and Facilities Committee.
UO employees will be able to make their health insurance elections beginning Oct. 1 and must complete enrollment by Oct. 31.
Trustees also will look at an updated budget for the current year, review three capital projects and hear two academic presentations.
If approved, the project would add flexibility to to seat up to 30,000 and would improve training and academic facilities at the storied field.
The annual gathering focused on the role education and research plays in Oregon’s economy.
Officers of administration are asked to complete a survey as part of the ongoing project to review and update position descriptions.
