Campus meetings with the finalists for the UO’s vice president for research and innovation are continuing, with more visits planned for the first week in March.

“The university community is encouraged to welcome this distinguished group of candidates and engage them in discussions about the future success of research at the University of Oregon,” said Scott Coltrane, senior vice president and provost.

Candidate presentations run from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in Room 202, Ford Alumni Center. The names and background information for each candidate will be posted on the Office of the Provost website three business days before each candidate’s visit.

The next applicant is Edmund Seebauer, professor of chemical engineering and provost fellow at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is on campus March 3 and 4, with an open presentation at 4:15 p.m. March 3 in Room 202, Ford Alumni Center.

As the chief research officer, the vice president oversees most of the UO’s multidisciplinary research centers and institutes, research initiatives, innovation efforts and research infrastructure. The vice president is a member of the senior leadership team and collaborates with deans, faculty and colleagues in areas that support the research mission of the university.

The university is currently engaged in searches for deans in the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Architecture and Allied Arts, the School of Journalism and Communication and the Lundquist College of Business, as well as the search for the new vice president for research and innovation.
