The Lyllye Reynolds-Parker Black Cultural Center at the University of Oregon will host an intimate dialogue highlighting how recent killings and racism affect the black community June 2 at 11:30 a.m. via Zoom.

Aris Hall, director of the center, and Stella-Marie Akindayomi, academic counselor in the Center for Multicultural Academic Excellence, will be joined by Debra Thompson, associate professor of political science, and Nikki Chery, African American student specialist and senior staff psychologist, to provide a venue for black students, faculty members and staff to come together to talk about recent events. 

The morning event is a time for black students, faculty members and staff to come together. A link to the event is available on the Black Cultural Center website and UO Calendar; attendees for the event must have a uoregon.edu email address.

The online gathering is part of the Nuanced Griot: Community Conversations series launched this term by the Black Cultural Center and the Center for Multicultural Academic Excellence to build community and establish networks through discussions on black experiences. The final Nuanced Griot of the term, “Making Connections: Using Your Black Alumni Network,” will be held at its regular time on Tuesday, June 2, at 3 p.m.
