Campus Copy art contest accepting entries

University of Oregon’s Printing and Mailing Services is currently accepting entries for Campus Copy’s third annual university-wide art contest, open to faculty, staff and students through mid-March.

Submissions can include photography, digital or original artwork. There is no limit to the number of entries, and submission is free.

Contest rules state that all submitted artwork must be original, include no profanity or copyrighted material and be able to be reproduced in large format for display.

Original works of art less than 4 MB should be emailed to artcontest2014@gmail.com.

The annual art competition began as an effort to call attention to the artistic talents of the campus community and to add color to the walls of the EMU basement.

Last year’s competition had 186 entries with over 4,000 Facebook “likes” on the entries. Participants are encouraged to have their friends “like” their submissions on Facebook, as the works with the most “likes” move straight to the final round of judging.

A panel of two students, two EMU board members and one member of Printing and Mailing Services staff judge the submissions with the artists' names removed.

The top three winners and about five runners up will have their work displayed for a year on the EMU walls across from Campus Copy. Winners are announced at the unveiling of their artwork.

In previous years, there has been a guest speaker from the campus community at the unveiling, but this year’s ceremony is still in the works due to the ongoing EMU renovation.
