End of school year is a time to recycle and donate

As the end of the academic year approaches, students have numerous opportunities to donate or recycle items as they move out, and faculty and staff may also see this as a good time to de-clutter offices and break rooms.

It is important to remember that disposal of any UO-owned items must be coordinated through the property control office to ensure compliance with surplus and disposal rules and regulations.

For students living in the residence halls, the Give Before You Go program sponsored by University Housing provides donation and recycle bins in common areas and opportunities to recycle electronics safely.

Students living  off campus can participate in the Chuck it for Charity program and donate items to community agencies such as St. Vincent de Paul, Goodwill, The ARC of Lane County for clothes and household items and NextStep for electronics.  Students should mention "Chuck it for Charity" when calling to arrange a free pickup.

Volunteers are still needed to assist the Zero Waste Program sort through all the donations. To volunteer, you can contact Robyn Hathcock at 541-346-0929 or rjhath@uoregon.edu or sign up by accessing the Google document.
