The days may feel shorter, but there’s still plenty of time for arts and culture. Hispanic Heritage Month is observed Sept. 15-Oct. 15. The community will celebrate Sept. 5 at Fiesta Cultural during the Eugene First Friday ArtWalk at the Farmers Market Pavilion and Plaza and at Herencia Hispana on the city hall plaza during the Springfield Block Party.
Music
During the Chamber Music Amici Summer Festival at Mt. Pisgah Arboretum Sept. 2-3, several faculty members will perform including Tyler Abbott, senior instructor of double bass, Jacqueline Cordova-Arrington, assistant professor of flute, and Steven Pologe, professor of cello and chamber music.
The Don Latarski Quintessential plays Sept. 19 at The Jazz Station. Bassist Zach Wallmark is an associate professor of musicology. The Idit Shner Quartet takes the stage Sept. 27. Shner is a professor of saxophone and jazz studies and band member Ken Mastrogiovanni is a drum set instructor.
