The UO Entrepreneurship Awards recognize UO student entrepreneurs and the faculty, alumni and community members who helped them along the way. Sponsored by the Lundquist Center for Entrepreneurship, the program includes an annual event and a student startup trade show for guests to learn about the entrepreneurial ventures being developed across campus. This year’s recipients were celebrated at a June 11 online event honoring winning teams of students who are already applying their studies to create new business ventures. Some of the day’s big winners included:

• Transitions, an apparel company for maternity athletic wear, by Sports Product Design masters student Jessie Silbert, who won the Koehn Award and the Paul Anthony Troiano RAINmaker Award.
• Terran Material Resources, a Lithium-ion battery recycling company by MBA students Christina Calvin and Mafuzher Rahman, who also won the Paul Anthony Troiano RAINmaker Award as well as the Sustainability Award.
• PowerFill Solutions, founded by business student Christopher Cohen, who won the LCE Outstanding Entrepreneurship Concentration Award and New Venture of the Year Award.
• Basking Filter, whose founders Alex Balog and Ben Cooper also competed at the University of Washington’s Dempsey Competition and the University of Manitoba’s Stu Clark New Venture Championship.
