Caroline Federighi continues to leave her mark at Oregon earning Capital One Academic All-America third team honors as announced by the College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA) on Thursday, June 5. Federighi became the first Oregon women’s lacrosse player to ever to earn Academic All-American honors.

The Pleasanton, Calif., product was only one of two Division I women’s lacrosse players named to either the first, second or third team and one of eight Academic All-Americans from Pac-12 schools.

Federighi entered her final quarter at Oregon with a whopping 4.10 cumulative grade point average, majoring in human physiology with a minor in chemistry and is set to graduate on June 16th.

This is the third academic award Federighi has garnered this season alone, and the seventh accolade in her career at UO. The senior keeper first earned her third MPSF All-Academic team recognition and followed up with the program’s second-ever academic all-district honors in May.

Federighi also left her mark on the field as Duck. The UO keeper finished her career second all-time in saves (405) and wins (30), and narrowly missed out on cracking the top-10 list in career ground balls (88).

Her 8.31 goals against average this season also broke the single-season GAA record (9.15) that she set back in 2012. Federighi stopped 110 shots and allowed just 141 goals in 1018:16 minutes of action on the year. The senior led the team with 33 groundballs to go along with 12 caused turnovers in the crease. 

Federighi played an integral role in Oregon earning its third MPSF Tournament berth in four years and helped UO finish the season with an 11-8 overall record and 6-3 mark in conference play.

Federighi also has an opportunity add one more award to the mix later this summer when the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association announces their academic honor roll selections.
