Join fellow community members in celebrating University Day, a long-standing University of Oregon tradition dating back to 1904 to prepare the university grounds for commencement ceremonies.
Faculty members, staff, students, alumni and community members are encouraged to dig in and have some fun Thursday, May 14, between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Volunteers will be assigned to a section of campus to plant flowers, weed flower beds, clean up litter, paint rocks or make native plant seed balls.
Check in at the lower level of the Erb Memorial Union Amphitheater.
Volunteer for any amount of time to receive a free University Day T-shirt, treats and a great vibe. Supplies are provided and employees should check with their supervisor before joining the event.
Bee lovers and volunteers are invited to stop by the EMU Green at 9 a.m. for the dedication of a pollinator garden, at the flower beds closest to the Craft Center.
As part of the dedication, this space will be recognized as a pollinator garden, and three mason bee boxes will be installed on nearby posts. Attendees can learn about how pollinators support sustainable landscapes and local biodiversity.
President Karl Scholz and Associate Vice President Mike Harwood from Campus Planning and Facilities Management will each share brief remarks. Vice President for Student Life Angela Chong will also attend the dedication.
