Jaqua award goes to UO law school alum and judge

The University of Oregon School of Law will honor longtime Oregon judge Alfred "Ted" Goodwin with the school's John E. Jaqua Distinguished Alumnus Award during an award dinner at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27.

Earlier in the day, the school will welcome Goodwin and many of his former clerks for dedication of the Hon. Alfred "Ted" Goodwin Display. The dedication features a custom-built case that will house memorabilia of his career including magazine articles, photographs, diplomas, awards and his cherished Harney County sagebrush gavel.

Goodwin earned both his undergraduate and law degrees from the UO, in 1947 and 1951 respectively. As a former newspaper reporter, he developed an effective, matter-of-fact writing style during his legal and judicial career.
