Journalist reflects on 125 public records requests, has kudos for UO

The Portland Business Journal’s Matthew Kish submitted public records requests to 125 universities as part of a six-month project that resulted in a series of stories about apparel contracts.  In a Dec. 24 blog, he shared his experience gathering information and called out the University of Oregon’s process of posting online materials for immediate access.

“Some, including the University of Oregon, now put extensive records online so the public has immediate access to records. It's even set up a reading room so the public can read contracts of coaches,” Kish wrote.

The athletics department and the public records office have been posting records online for the past few years to increase transparency and accessibility to frequently requested information. More information is at: http://publicrecords.uoregon.edu/.
