Lim Named to Division I PING All-West Region Team

Oregon freshman Thomas Lim became the first freshman to be named to the Division I PING All-Region Team of the West since Daniel Miernicki was bestowed the honor back in 2009 as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America on Thursday.

Lim, a Pac-12 honorable mention and all-freshman team honoree, vaulted Oregon into a second-place finish last week at the NCAA Eugene Regional. His 4-under 66 card on the final day of competition helped the Ducks earn their fifth berth to the NCAA Championships in eight years under head coach Casey Martin.

The Moorpark, Calif., native’s 71.85 stroke average heading into the championships is good for sixth all-time on the single-season stroke average list at Oregon. Lim is also tied with teammate Brandon McIver for the most top-20 finishes this season through 13 tournaments with six.

A total of 157 players across six regions - Northeast, East, Southeast, Midwest, Central and West - earned all-region honors for 2014. Lim was one of 16 Pac-12 golfers that were honored in the west region.

Lim and the Oregon Ducks are set to tee off at 5:50 a.m. (PT) on Friday, May 23, for the NCAA Championships held at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan.
