The industrial design magazine Core77 currently features not one but two stories about designs by two professors in the UO’s Product Design Program that are showing during New York Design Week.
Both stories feature Studio Gorm, the design firm of associate professor John Arndt and assistant professor Wonhee Arndt. Their work is part of the “Furnishing Utopia” exhibition.
The first of the stories — written by 2013 product design graduate Allison Fonder — notes the revival of Shaker style by contemporary designers. The second story discusses precedents that drive new designers to choose the minimalist Shaker style.
