Nominations or self-nominations are due no later than Wednesday, April 17, for the UO Research Excellence awards, which recognize outstanding career work and other accomplishments.
Sponsored by Research, Innovation and Graduate Education, the awards are:
- Outstanding Career Award (to be awarded to two tenured faculty of associate or full professor rank);
- Early Career Award (one for a tenure track faculty member at the assistant professor rank);
- and Outstanding Accomplishment Award (one for a career non-tenure track faculty engaged in independent research activities and another for a career non-tenure track faculty engaged in technical activities in support of research, e.g. core facilities or statistical analysis).
The awards and a spring ceremony are intended to raise the visibility of the outstanding research activities at the UO. The primary audience is internal and expected to bring a much-anticipated annual forum for celebrating the significant impact and reach of UO researchers.
Awardees receive commendation from the office of the Vice President for Research & Innovation, including $1,000 in research support, a recognition memento and formal highlighting of their work and that of their fellow awardees. The Outstanding Career Award winners also will give an annual Presidential Lecture on campus in the year following the award to share their outstanding work with campus colleagues.
Nominations should be addressed to Vice President Kimberly Andrews Espy. Electronic submissions should be sent to ncrow@uoregon.edu with the subject line: UO Research Excellence Awards Nomination.
