Onward Eugene and the University of Oregon Career Center are working together to connect students and potential employers through the Onward Career Tours program.
With the recent announcement that UO classes would be taught remotely for spring and summer terms, there is a timely opportunity to enable students and business to meet.
“Students are entering one of the most challenging job markets in recent memory,” said Paul Timmins, executive director of the University Career Center. “Our aim with this program is to enable students to connect remotely with employers and explore a breadth of careers, from where they are today.”
Onward Career Tours are interactive experiences that introduce students, at no cost, to a variety of careers, companies and industries that have a presence in the Eugene area. The live, one-hour Zoom calls are open to all currently enrolled UO students, across all majors.
“We are thankful to be in a position to help students make industry connections even during the economic shutdown,” said Matt Sayre, managing director of Onward Eugene. “The Onward Career Tours program is a rich online experience that is far more than a virtual field trip.”
Registration is now open for the kickoff event, scheduled for Thursday, April 23, at 3 p.m. Students will meet UO alumnus Seth Revoal, a 2003 graduate in multimedia design and business administration, and Nick Yarger of Revolution Design Group, a full-service creative agency providing branding, graphic design, website design, social media, search engine optimization, online marketing and consulting services to clients throughout North America.
One of the program goals is to inform students about the range of industries in the Eugene area and encourage them to build their careers locally. Additional Onward Career Tours will take place April 30, May 7 and May 14.
Companies in the Eugene area that are interested in participating are encouraged to contact Onward Eugene via their website
