Prescription drugs have expiration dates, and it’s important to dispose of them properly. Check the Ex is a great way to do it.

Unwanted or expired prescription drugs will be accepted for proper disposal in the Erb Memorial Union Fishbowl on Tuesday, May 10, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. In addition to prescription drugs, Check the Ex also will accept cough and cold medicines, vitamins, ointments, lotions and other over-the-counter products, and even pet medications. Liquids must be in leak-proof containers and pills must be in a closed container or sealed bag.

Some items not being accepted are aerosol cans, inhalers, thermometers and needles.

In addition to this special Check the Ex event, a prescription drop box is located in the University Health Services pharmacy year round.
