Prizes offered to students who submit vaccination status early

The University of Oregon is offering a total of $50,000 in prizes to students who complete compliance with the UO’s COVID-19 vaccination requirements earlier than the prescribed deadlines.

Any student who has completed the policy requirement will be eligible for the drawing. Compliance is either uploading proof of vaccination or applying for an exemption. Students who have uploaded their vaccination requirements by Friday, Sept. 10, at noon are eligible to win. Prizes range from $1,000 to $5,000.

All students are required to submit vaccination records to myUOHealth by Sept. 27. Students in residence halls must do so by Sept. 14.

“We know our students are doing what they can to keep themselves and others safe, including getting vaccinated,” said Kris Winter, associate vice president for student life. “We want to reward them for their efforts and encourage their continued engagement for the health and safety of our community.”

Funding for the drawing came from the institutional Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds, a federal stimulus funding program approved by Congress to assist with relief efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic. Additional funding is available for students experiencing financial hardship; apply on the Federal Emergency Cares Act and CRRSAA Grants website.
