Registration for spring academic workshops continues

Registration is continuing for spring term workshops from the Office of the Provost and Academic Affairs.

The workshops are designed to support faculty members’ achievement and advance their careers. They are intended for tenure-related faculty, nontenure-track faculty, unit heads and staff.

The office has partnered with the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation, the Office of the Vice President for Finance and Administration, the UO Title IX coordinator and human resources to develop a number of workshops.

Spring term workshops are:

April 25 Promotion and Tenure: Promotion to Full Professor
EMU 145/Crater Lake South, noon–2 p.m.
This workshop describes how to prepare an effective and complete case for promotion to full professor, including the timing of case submissions; expectations for research, publication, and creative accomplishments; expectations for teaching and service; and other critical topics. Faculty, staff and units heads are welcome.

May 17 — Teaching and Professional Development for Career NTTF
EMU 023/Lewis Room, noon-2 p.m.
This workshop will feature a discussion about developing and maintaining a fulfilling and engaging career as NTTF instructional faculty at the University of Oregon. Join our distinguished panel of career NTTF instructors as they share what has fed their soul and helped them develop themselves as professionals. Facilitated by Lee Rumbarger, Teaching Engagement Program; Panelists include: Sierra Dawson (CAS - Human Physiology), Galen Martin (CAS - International Studies), Deb Bauer (LCB) and Julie Voelker-Morris (AAA). Faculty and units heads encouraged to attend.

May 18 — Unit Heads Training: Q&A with the Business Bunch
EMU 107/Miller Room, 10-11:30 a.m.
Bring your questions about budget, HR, audit, payroll, travel, internal controls, contracts and any other issues. We will do our best to provide unit heads with answers to your questions and information about campus resources.

May 19 — Prohibited Discrimination Reporting: Understanding Your Role in Reporting Prohibited Discrimination and Harassment-NEW
EMU 146/Crater Lake North, 9-11:30 a.m.

In this introductory training, Darci Heroy - Title IX coordinator, will discuss university policies prohibiting discrimination and harassment, types of behavior that constitute different treatment or discriminatory harassment and your role in helping to create a community in which such behavior is not tolerated. We will also discuss employee reporting obligations, response to typical scenarios and the resources that are currently available to you and/or to the students you serve. All UO employees are welcome to attend.
