Laura Roesler was named the Pac-12 women’s track and field Scholar Athlete of the Year, the conference announced, Saturday before the beginning of the conference championships.
Roesler, a senior from Fargo, N.D., is the most decorated student-athlete in Oregon history having earned 15 All-American honors and four NCAA Championships throughout her career. Roesler is the 2014 NCAA Indoor Champion in the 800 as well as a two-time defending Pac-12 Champion in the event. This year, she currently holds the fastest time in the NCAA.
Roesler has a 3.54 GPA while majoring in psychology. She was an honorable mention Academic All-Pac-12 as a junior and a sophomore.
This is the second-consecutive year a Duck has been named a scholar-athlete. Jordan Hasay earned the award in 2013.
In order to be eligible for the award, student-athletes must be a senior in athletics eligibility, on track to receive a degree, have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, participate in at least 50 percent of the scheduled contests and have a minimum of one year in residence at the institution.
