Applications for students who wish to join winter and spring Alternative Break expeditions are due Friday, Nov. 6.
This winter the program will return to its long-standing partnership in Guatemala with Stove Team International, focusing on helping the community create their own clean-burning woodstoves. Spring destinations are:
- San Francisco, in partnership with Playworks, focusing on inclusion, imagination and the transformative power of play for youth
- Hawaii, in partnership with He’eia State Park, focusing on environmental and cultural revitalization
- Nicaragua, in partnership with Communidad Connect and a local health center, focusing on collecting household data on diabetes, obesity and diet while also working on other public health projects.
Alternative Break is a program of the Holden Leadership Center and offers students a chance to spend winter, spring or summer breaks engaged in community service around the world. More information and application instructions can be found on serve.uoregon.edu.
