Molly Kennedy, assistant director for marketing and resource development in the UO's Department of Physical Education and Recreation, has been inducted into the alumni honor academy of Western Michigan University’s Department of Human Performance and Health Education.
The honor program is aimed at public recognition for the outstanding achievements of the department's graduates. It encompasses alumni of the Kalamazoo, Mich., university's former physical education men’s and women’s programs; and Health, Physical Education and Recreation Department; and the current Human Performance and Health Education Department.
The alumni honor academy acknowledges professional accomplishments, recognition and service of distinguished alumni, based on a review process by current faculty and emeriti.
Kennedy studied recreation at Western Michigan University from 1991-95. She was involved in the university's intramural program and after earning her bachelor's degree, completed her master of arts degree in business administration communication and human performance at Oregon State University in 2003.
She has been with the UO's Department of Physical Education and Recreation since 1997. She has spent most of her career as the assistant director of operations, providing management, leadership and direction for daily operations in the Student Recreation Center. In her current marketing position, she was instrumental in the recent referendum campaign for the recreation center's expansion.
