Starting April 19, students age 16 and older will join the ranks of those eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine in Oregon. The University of Oregon is now inviting students to schedule vaccination appointments for a UO clinic.
The UO vaccination clinics for students and employees will offer the Pfizer vaccine. Clinics for first doses will be held April 21, 22, 28 and 29 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Autzen Stadium east parking lot. Clinics for the second dose of the vaccine will be held starting May 12. Students will schedule appointments for both their first and second doses of the Pfizer vaccine at the same time.
Appointment options for the second dose will be three weeks after the first and determined by the date selected for the first dose. Students are reminded to schedule appointments for dates in April and May when they know they will be available to receive both vaccine doses.
The UO clinics are for a two-dose series only. People who have received their first vaccine dose elsewhere should receive their second dose from the same provider.
Participants can drive, bike or walk through the outdoor clinics, with services occurring in tents. Face coverings will be required to receive a vaccine.
Important considerations:
- Appointments are required. Drop-in visits cannot be accommodated.
- Vaccinations will be given by technicians from the local Albertsons Pharmacy.
- Vaccinations are free. Insurance is not required to be vaccinated; however, individuals will be asked to provide health insurance information, if available, so that Albertsons Pharmacy can bill available insurance for administering the vaccine. Bring a copy of your insurance card with you.
- If you are a UO student employee, attending a vaccination appointment during scheduled work time will be considered paid time. Work with your supervisor to coordinate coverage, if necessary.
Other options for getting vaccinated:
Those 16 and older may be eligible before April 19 if they meet other state criteria. Vaccination appointments can be scheduled with county public health agencies, pharmacies or health care providers. This may be a faster route for getting vaccinated than attending the UO clinics.
More information about UO vaccinations clinics can be found on the UO coronavirus website.
