Top 15 finish for Oregon Athletics in Directors’ Cup

National titles for the men’s and women’s track and field teams propelled the University of Oregon to a second straight top 15 finish in the Division I Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup standings.

The Ducks won national titles in men’s outdoor track and field and men’s and women’s indoor track and field, in addition to top-five NCAA finishes in softball (third), women’s outdoor track and field (third) and men’s cross country (fifth) to earn an all-time best 943 points in the final Directors’ Cup standings.

The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup was developed by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today to recognize the accomplishments of colleges and universities maintaining a broad-based athletic program. Schools are awarded points based on their national finish in up to 20 sports (10 men’s, 10 women’s).

The size of the Oregon Athletics program makes the results more striking. UO remains the only program in the history of the Directors’ Cup to place among the top 15 with 18 or fewer sports.
