Trio of Ducks Tab All-Academic Honors

Lana ButtnerSofia Hager andNicole Long all earned Pac-12 All-Academic selections Thursday morning as announced by Commissioner Larry Scott. This is the second-straight accolade for both Buttner and Hager, while Long earned her first nod.

Buttner, a native of Croissy sur Seine, France, will graduate from the University of Oregon with a degree in Business Administration with a minor in Spanish in June. She entered the spring season with a 3.77 grade point average. This is the second all-academic honor for Buttner who was tabbed first-team all-academic last season. Buttner was 6-12 overall in her senior campaign with a 5-11 mark in dual play and finished her career at Oregon with 37 singles victories.

Like Buttner, Hager also earned her second all-academic nod this year. This is the second-straight all-academic honorable mention accolade for Hager who sports a 3.50 G.P.A. The Lidkoping, Sweden, product is currently majoring in general social science with an emphasis in business. Hager wrapped up her season with a 9-12 overall mark and 8-11 record in dual play. The junior currently leads all active UO women’s tennis players with 42 career-wins in singles.

Long earned her first all-academic selection in her first year of eligibility for the award. The Accounting and Japanese double major entered the spring season with a 3.33 G.P.A. in Accounting. Long finished the season with back-to-back 10-plus wins, finishing with a 13-9 mark in singles play, all of which came at the No. 1 singles position.

The Ducks finished their season 7-15 overall and 1-9 in Pac-12 play in head coach Paul Reber’s final season at Oregon before stepping down.

Alison Silverio was tabbed the new head women’s tennis coach as announced by Athletic Director Rob Mullens on Wednesday, May 28. Silverio comes to Oregon from Georgia Tech where she was a national champion and NCAA tournament MVP in 2007 as a student-athlete for the Ramblin’ Wreck. She spent the past four seasons as an assistant at her Alma Mater.
