Elections for the 2020-21 University Senate have concluded, and incoming Senate President Elliot Berkman, a professor of psychology, will welcome new Senate colleagues as the current academic year closes.
Results from the University Senate election and elected committees are available on the Senate’s elections page.
“Next year will be a busy one with all that is happening on campus,” said Berkman, the Senate’s current vice president. I’m excited to get to work and continue along the strong trajectory of shared governance between the faculty and administration that we’ve built this year.”
The Senate will elect a new vice president/president-elect during its June 10 meeting, the final one of this academic year.
“Serving on the University Senate and our institutional committees is so important to shared governance, and I appreciate all of those who are willing to dedicate their time to help the UO move forward,” said Patrick Phillips, provost and senior vice president. “My team and I look forward to working with all of those elected and appointed, particularly in the coming year as we navigate these unprecedented times.”
“I would also like to extend a big ‘thank you’ to Elizabeth Skowron for her work as Senate president this year,” Phillips said.
Many service opportunities are appointed and not elected, and Berkman will work over the next several weeks to fill those positions. Those who are interested and who did not complete the service survey earlier this year should email Senate executive coordinator Betina Lynn at senatecoordinator@uoregon.edu.
More information about the UO’s various committees is on the Senate website.
