UO offering limited COVID-19 testing for employees, students

The University of Oregon COVID-19 surveillance testing is expanding to include voluntary testing for all UO employees and students.

A limited number of slots are available on a first-come, first-served basis on Thursday, Oct. 29, from 1:30 to 6 p.m., and Friday, Oct. 30, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 to 6 p.m.

All participants must preregister. To preregister, visit the Monitoring and Assessment Program registration portal and select “Other UO Community Member (faculty, staff, student).”

Note that signup closes at 5 p.m. the day before each session or when all slots are filled, whichever comes first. Additional testing opportunities will be made available in the coming weeks. All participants must wear a mask, have a UO ID number and must bring a UO ID card.

Offered through the UO’s Monitoring and Assessment Program, testing is free. Minimal time is needed for the testing process itself. While there may be some wait time, lines are expected to move quickly and participants should only need 15-30 minutes to complete the process from arrival to departure.

The testing procedure involves a self-collected nasal swab. More information about sample collection and the testing process is available on the UO coronavirus website.

It’s important to note that, if you believe you have been exposed to or are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, you should seek medical help immediately. Symptomatic individuals should not go to a campus testing event. Employees or students who have tested positive or think they have been exposed to COVID-19 are encouraged to review the COVID-19 exposure scenarios and guidance and contact the Corona Corps Care Team via a web form.

Other Important information:

  • Testing takes place at Matthew Knight Arena; enter at the southwest entrance behind Ford Alumni Center.
  • Employees may participate during work time. However, employees who do not normally work during the time the testing is provided may also participate but will need to do so on their own time.

You should not participate if you:

  • Tested or were diagnosed positive for COVID-19 in the past 90 days.
  • Are currently isolating or quarantining due to contact with a known positive case.
  • Are feeling sick or experiencing COVID-19 symptoms.

Participants will be notified of their results within four days. Participants are asked to anticipate receiving test results by phone or email and to be responsive when contacted.
