Ksana Health, the digital health company cofounded by UO psychology professor Nick Allen, recently announced that it had raised $2 million in seed funding.

Separately, the company reported that it had joined the Anthem Digital Incubator, an invitation-only program run by the insurance company Anthem Inc. Both announcements were reported on by the startup and technology news outlet TechCrunch.

Ksana specializes in digital platforms that turn smartphones into wireless wellness tools. Vira, the company’s latest mental health monitoring platform, converts quantifiable behavioral patterns that are continuously and passively collected by smartphones into actionable and objective insights. According to the company’s website, “Vira delivers scalable, passive, and continuous remote patient monitoring and digital therapeutics for behavioral health.”

“One of the biggest problems with mental health services is that they’re stuck in the office or limited to weekly Zoom calls,” said Allen, Ksana Health CEO, in a news release. “The Vira Platform allows practitioners to work more efficiently and effectively by utilizing real-time data to develop personalized interventions that meet patients where they are.”

Born from the UO’s Center for Digital Health, Ksana previously received support from the University Venture Development Fund as well as through the UO’s Venture Launch Grant. The lead investor in the company’s latest round of seed funding, re.Mind Capital, “invests in companies with radical new ideas to improve mental health and wellbeing globally,” according to the news release announcing the investment.

Joining the Anthem Digital Incubator will allow Ksana to pilot its new Vira platform within Beacon Health Options, a leading behavioral health services company with approximately 37 million members. The incubator provides resident companies with support, growth, educational opportunities and customized coaching.
