Volunteers are needed to help with the second in a series of meningitis vaccine clinics being held on the UO campus to inoculate students against the potentially deadly infection.
The next clinic will be May 12-14 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Matthew Knight Arena. Students will be given the second in a series of three shots with the Trumenba vaccine.
Volunteers are needed for three daily shifts: 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. People are urged to sign up for one or more shifts.
Late afternoon and evening shifts are particularly critical. A boxed sandwich and snacks will be provided.
Volunteers with access to the Banner software system are needed to help complete the student eligibility check, and others are needed to help with traffic flow in different locations.
Campus offices that have student employees who can be spared to assist at the clinics are asked to allow them to volunteer. The assignments are considered emergency reassignments, and the employing department is responsible for covering a worker’s salary or hourly rates while working at the clinic (overtime or other differentials may apply for those where that is applicable if you have an evening shift).
Be sure that a supervisor has approved the clinic assignment before moving on to the next steps. Upon supervisor approval, sign up for shifts at this link: https://oregon.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_2iB58WZariLly8l
All volunteers will receive a free t-shirt and lunch/dinner and refreshments will be made available throughout the day.
