A team composed of UO product design students took first place in a competition to develop a new user experience for computer applications.
Team WOMO won the $8,000 first prize in the Colligan User Interface Design Challenge for a mobile application that allows people to manage their water consumption and streamline bill payment. The team won out over a fitness tracking program, a legal advice portal and a system for connecting high school students with mentors.
A total of 14 teams made up of 38 undergraduate and graduate students took part in the competition, which was made possible by a gift from UO graduate Ed Colligan, the former chief executive of Palm, Inc.
