The University of Oregon’s 148th commencement ceremony will celebrate the achievements of 5,245 graduates at Autzen Stadium on Monday, June 16, starting at 9 a.m. To help the day run smoothly, UO employees are encouraged to volunteer. Tasks include organizing graduates during the procession into Autzen, greeting guests with programs, helping guests at shuttle stops and assisting at school and college ceremonies. Sign up ends Wednesday, June 4.
Here’s what to know about this year’s ceremonies and celebrations:
- Graduates and guests for the main ceremony must park at or find transportation to Autzen Stadium. Carpooling and ride sharing are highly encouraged. There will be no public parking on campus (other than designated ADA placards). Free shuttles from Autzen to the main UO campus will begin after the ceremony and run continuously throughout the day.
- Parking lots at Autzen Stadium open at 6:30 a.m. and stadium gates open at 7:30 a.m. The Gra(n)d Entrance will begin at 8:15 a.m. The ceremony begins at 9:00 a.m. and is expected to last ninety minutes.
- A clear bag policy is in effect for Autzen Stadium and Matthew Knight Arena. Guests are limited to one clear bag per person, along with a small clutch or purse for medical needs.
- Graduates will gather at the Moshofsky Plaza beginning at 7:30 a.m. The Gra(n)d Entrance into Autzen will begin at 8:15 a.m. through the west tunnel.
- The main commencement ceremony will be livestreamed.
- Jana Schmieding, Lakota comedian-actor-writer and 2005 alum, will be the keynote speaker.
- Ceremonies for schools and colleges will follow the main UO commencement ceremony, taking place on the same day in locations around campus.
- In addition to the schools and colleges, other celebrations mark the accomplishments of multicultural and identity-based student groups, including the Black Graduation Celebration and Lavender Graduation Celebration.
- The School of Law celebrated its 139th graduating class at its commencement ceremony on May 17.
- The campus community will celebrate commencement at the Ford Alumni Center (FAC) from noon to 4 p.m. with complimentary snacks and refreshments. GradFest activities will include photo opportunities with the large green and yellow O.
- Both the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art and the Museum of Natural and Cultural History are open with free admission on commencement day.
