Economics professor Wesley Wilson was recently named the 2013 Distinguished Member of the Transportation and Public Utilities Group (TPUG) for his significant contributions to the field at the group’s annual conference held at the American Economic Association’s annual meeting in Philadelphia.
He joins 57 recipients, including two Nobel laureates, chosen for this honor since the organization began recognizing member contributions in 1965.

Wilson is currently the president of TPUG and the agricultural chapter of the Transportation Research Forum. He joined the UO faculty in 1989 and is an affiliated researcher for the Upper Great Plains Transportation Institute.
Wilson has been published for a wide range of his research including transportation, industrial organization, trade, labor, agriculture and applied economics. He is currently the managing editor of Economic Inquiry; an associate editor for Maritime Policy and Management, as well as the Journal of the Transportation Research Forum; serves on the board of editors for Transport Policy and the Review of Industrial Organization; and was previously on the board of editors for Agribusiness: An International Journal.
The Transportation and Public Utilities Group is an international forum for researchers and practitioners interested in the economics of and public policies towards the transportation and public utilities industries. It is one of the oldest associations that stem from the American Economic Association.
