Starting this month, the University of Oregon will offer training to faculty and staff on how to perform hands-only CPR. Although the class does not offer a certification, participants will gain skills that can make a difference. The first training is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 17, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Forgoing the normal rescue breaths, hands-only CPR focuses on rapidly delivering high-quality chest compressions. The hourlong class will teach the basics of evaluating a victim and performing simple chest compressions.

The Early Childhood CARES program is collecting gifts for its annual holiday giving program through Monday, Dec. 9.

The Campus Duck Store will host its annual UO Faculty, GTF and University Staff Appreciation Night from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5. Each attendee is asked to bring the flyer and UO identification card for entry to the party and prize drawing.

The Duck Store has held this free event for more than 30 years. The appreciation night offers an evening of food and festivities for UO employees. A 20 percent discount will be available to all employees before the store’s annual sale opens to the public.
