The English translation of a Spanish-language report on an archive documenting human rights abuses in Guatemala and a new documentary film on the same subject will help raise awareness of human rights around the world.

The translation and film are the result of a collaboration between academic units at the University of Oregon and Guatemala’s Archivo Histórico de la Policía Nacional (AHPN). With funding support from the Network Startup Resource Center (NSRC), and other campus units, two UO faculty members, Carlos Aguirre and Gabriela Martínez, headed up the projects for the UO.

Kartz Ucci, associate professor of digital arts for the University of Oregon Department of Art, died Oct. 6 of cancer. She was 52 years of age.

Ucci joined the UO faculty in 2004 and taught art and digital arts, concentrating on contemporary art practice, time-based media and interactive installations.

The University of Oregon’s Career Center in Portland is hosting the fifth annual Get Connected event on Tuesday, Oct. 22 from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the UO Portland's White Stag Building.

The event aims to bring UO alumni and employers together to facilitate discussion about the job market. UO graduates will have an opportunity to ask questions and listen to a panel of human resources professionals who are also Ducks, in addition to networking with UO alumni.
