The UO's own caped crusader, The Duck, swooped down on Portland last weekend for the Rose City Comic Con, joining more than 30,000 stormtroopers, superheroes and other fans of popular culture for the two-day event.

The University of Oregon was a sponsor of this year's gathering, and UO students, faculty and staff were joined by the Duck and Captain America to support the university's comics and cartoon studies minor, the only program of its kind in the world. The College of Arts and Sciences also raffled off several pieces of artwork, including original Batman artwork by Michael Allred, to fund scholarships for students studying comics at UO.
