The UO Museum of Natural and Cultural History is serving up a delicious combination of beer and knowledge with “Ideas on Tap,” a forum for Eugenians to interact with researchers and professionals in a relaxed environment with local craft beers in tow.
The series began its monthly run on Jan. 6 and will continue on Aug. 5 with “Reviving Abandoned Orchards: Oregon’s Cider Tradition.” The pub conversations encourage discussions about science, ecology and history.
“Oregon’s Cider Tradition” will examine the connections between cider making and environmental stewardship with WildCraft Cider Works’ owner, Sean Kelly. Kelly will speak on the history of apples in Oregon, sustainable harvesting and the relationship between orchards and natural habitats.
Ideas on Tap takes place on the first Wednesday of each month from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Claim 52 Taproom at 1030 Tyinn St. in Eugene. Admission is free and food and beverages are available for purchase.
