The UO’s Wayne Morse Center for Law and Politics is accepting applications for upcoming opportunities in conjunction with its 2017–19 theme of inquiry, “Borders, Migration, and Belonging.”

UO faculty can apply for the resident scholar program, while UO graduate students can apply for the graduate research fellows program. Individuals and organizations can apply for the project grant program.

Resident scholars advise the center on programs related to its current theme of inquiry or the Program for Democratic Engagement and Governance and also work on academic projects. Each year the Wayne Morse Center hosts two UO faculty members as resident scholars.

The resident scholar program is open to tenured and tenure-track faculty at the UO. Resident scholars receive $8,000 plus other personnel expenses up to 30 percent. Applications are due Monday, Jan. 8, for the 2018–19 academic year.

The graduate research fellows program supports graduate student research on the center’s current theme of inquiry or the priorities of the center’s Program for Democratic Engagement and Governance as well as research on Wayne Morse. The $3,000 award is given to three UO students each year.

The center’s project grants are awarded each year to community organizations, university faculty and departments, and student organizations. Awards are given to projects that stimulate and support educational events and activities related to the center’s theme of inquiry.

The maximum award is $10,000, but most awards range from $2,000 to $6,000. Project grant proposals for 2018–19 are due by Wednesday, Jan. 24, at noon.
