The World Athletics Championships Oregon22 offer many ways to join the excitement, including several fun opportunities on and off campus throughout the event.
MOWA exhibit at the EMU
No tickets are needed to explore the Track & Field Heritage Exhibition of the Museum of World Athletics now open at the Erb Memorial Union. This free exhibit is open to the public until the end of the World Championships.
Natural athletes exhibit
Learn about track and field champs of the animal kingdom at UO Museum of Natural and Cultural History. If you're heading to the museum this month, we suggest biking, walking or taking public transit. If you are driving, try entering via Villard Street and approaching via East 15th Avenue from the east of the museum. Visit the museum's website for more information about the exhibit and hours.
Eugene Riverfront Festival
The Eugene Riverfront Festival is a free, 10-day city celebration featuring food, music, art, a kids zone and livestream of the Hayward Field events. Visitors are encouraged to bike, walk or use public transportation to travel from Hayward Field to the festival, at the new Downtown Riverfront Park just northeast of the Fifth Street Market district. It’s about a 30-minute walk or 10-minute bike ride from campus, and a free bike valet is available. By bus take the green EmX bus from Franklin Boulevard to the downtown Eugene bus station,about a 10-minute ride. The walk from the bus station is approximately 15 minutes toward Fifth Street Market. From Fifth Street Market head toward the Willamette River. For a unique transportation alternative, Pacific Pub Cycle will offer a shuttle along the Ruth Bascom Riverbank Path to the southern festival entrance.
Making Tracks
This youth engagement program has WCH Oregon22 activities and resources designed for K-12 students. The program includes downloadable activity guides, contests, and special events.
Take home a piece of history
With Hayward Field set to draw worldwide attention during the World Track and Field Championships Oregon22, a special keepsake book has been published celebrating the rich history of the iconic track venue. Published by the Daily Emerald, Hayward Field: Legends and Legacy captures the many milestones of the venue and the inspirational stories about the legendary coaches and athletes. All proceeds go towards sustaining student-run journalism at the Emerald Media Group, an independent and nonprofit media organization at the UO.
