The University of Oregon’s graduate programs in education are in the top tier of U.S. News & World Report 2024 graduate school rankings.

The UO College of Education’s special education program is ranked No. 3 in the nation for the 24th year in a row and is No. 2 among public schools. The college’s overall graduate program moved up one spot to No. 6 among public institutions and remained at No. 14 among all schools nationwide.

The college also stepped up to No. 6 among peers in funded research. The $57.7 million it obtained is a record high for the 18 years that records have been kept and $4.1 million higher than the previous record, set last year.

The rankings are included in the 2024 edition of Best Graduate Schools, which rates the nation’s business, education, engineering, law, medicine and nursing schools and programs every year.

Periodically the publication updates the ratings of other disciplines and specialties. For 2024, the UO moved up four places in chemistry (to No. 58) and computer science (to No. 70). Graduate programs also had updated rankings in earth sciences (No. 33), mathematics (No. 62), physics (No. 67) and planning, public policy and management (No. 72).

The publication will release its annual law school rankings at a later date.
