COMING WEEK: 2014 Lorwin Lecture on Civil Rights and Civil Liberties

Other events coming soon to campus include an exhibition at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art, a kickoff event for an annual art exhibit and a music performance.

MUSIC

  • On Sunday, April 6, Eighth Blackbird will perform in Beall Concert Hall, Frohnmayer Music Building at 3 p.m. Tickets are available in advance from the Hult Center  at 541-682-5000 or the UO Ticket Office at 542-346-4363. Audience members are also invited to a free pre-concert “Musical Insights” talk at 2:10 p.m. delivered by graduate student Lauren Joiner.

EXHIBITIONS

  • A kickoff event will be held on Friday, April 4, from 5:30-7 p.m. to mark the opening of the annual Art of Childhood exhibit hosted by the HEDCO building. The exhibit is a collaborative effort of the three campus childcare centers – The Moss Street Children’s Center, Vivian Olum Child Development Center, and the Co-op Family Center – to present the art of hundreds of university-affiliated children. The exhibit will run through the entire month of April.
  • The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art presents “Contemporary Oregon Visions: Jo Hamilton and Irene Hardwicke Olivieri.” The exhibit will be on view until early August.

LECTURES

  • On Thursday, April 3, lawyer Wendy Murphy will present the 2014 Lorwin Lecture on Civil Rights and Civil Liberties from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in Columbia 150. The lecture, titled “How Title IX Finally Won Its Rightful Seat at the Civil Rights Table of Justice – and Why the Legs are Still So Wobbly,” is free and open to the public.
