COMING WEEK: UO attractions begin with the Street Faire on 13th Avenue.

Other events coming soon to campus include a Mother’s Day event hosted by the Native American Student Union, a family roller skating event, an athletic surplus sale, two lectures and a dance performance.

EVENTS

·         The ASUO Street Faire is currently on 13th Avenue in the heart of campus. The fair will continue through Saturday, May 10, during business hours. Local artisans, vendors, nonprofit organizations and student programs from the Eugene community will have booths. The event is free and open to the public.

·         A Green Buildings Tour will be held Friday, May 9, beginning at noon. Tours  with the architect of the Lillis Business Complex and Lane Community College Downtown Campus will be offered.

·         The UO Native American Student Union will host its 46th annual Mother's Day Pow Wow on Friday, May 9, at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

·         On Saturday, May 10, an Athletic Department Surplus Sale will be held at the Moshofsky Center from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dutch Bros. and Snydely’s Food Truck will sell drinks and food outside the event. This is a cash- and credit-only sale (no checks) and all sales are final.

·         The Duckling Day Family Skate will be held Saturday, May 10, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Skate World for all university students and families. The skating is free and snacks will be provided. Please RSVP to larkfeld@uoregon.edu.

LECTURES

·         On Thursday, May 8, from noon to 1 p.m., graduate student Elizabeth Lee will present a doctoral lecture titled “Patterns, Containment and Meaning within Hugo Wolf’s Mörike-Lieder." The lecture will be held in the Frohnmayer Music Building, Room 207.

·         An information session about the Peace Corps will be held Thursday, May 8, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in Willamette Hall, Room 110.

EXHIBITIONS

·         Hosted by the Cultural Forum, the Pacific Northwest Art Annual is currently on display at the EMU’s Adell McMillan Gallery through May 31. This year’s exhibition features more than 15 artists ranging from traditional painters to mixed media artists.

FILM

·         On Thursday, May 8, a Sustainable Development Film Screening & Discussion Panel will be held in Lawrence Hall, Room 115, from 6 to 8 p.m. The event will be hosted by the Associated Students for Historic Preservation and will discuss demolition in the name of sustainability. A discussion panel on building reuse and sustainable development will follow a screening of the documentary “The Greenest Building.”

·         Every Thursday evening from 8:30 p.m. to midnight, a Ducks After Dark Double Feature will be held in the PLC, Room 180. This week’s movies are “Transformers” and “Iron Man 3.” The event is free.

·         On Friday, May 9, from noon to 1 p.m., accounting firm PwC will host a Webcast Watch Party for a webcast of Sheryl Sandberg, COO of Facebook and author of “Lean In.” A follow up event will be held on May 13 to facilitate more discussion.

DANCE

·         On Thursday, May 8, the UO Department of Dance will present the annual spring Student Dance Concert at 8 p.m. in the Dougherty Dance Theatre. Tickets are available at the door or in advance from the UO Ticket Office.
