Other events coming soon to campus include a variety of musical events and concerts, a dance performance, a documentary screening, and a lecture on modern music theory.
MUSIC
- On Thursday, March 13, a duo violin recital will be held in Beall Concert Hall, Frohnmayer Music Building at 8 p.m. Guest artist Hal Grossman and UO faculty member Fritz Gearhart will perform, accompanied by pianist Asya Gulua. Tickets are $8 for students and seniors; $10 for general admission. Tickets are available at the door or in advance from the UO Ticket Office, 541-346-4363.
- On Friday, March 14, the student chamber ensembles will perform a free lunchtime “Chamber Music on Campus” concert. The event will be in the Papé Reception Hall of the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art. Admission is free.
- On Friday, March 14, students of the UO’s Community Music Institute, ages 10 through 18, will perform chamber music selections. The concert will be held at 5 p.m. in Beall Concert Hall, Frohnmayer Music Building.
- On Friday, March 14 at 5:30 p.m., the UO Jazz combos will perform at The Jazz Station in downtown Eugene.
- At 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, the UO Community Music Institute’s Suzuki Strings program will perform folk songs and classical repertoire on violin, viola, and cello. The concert will be held in Beall Concert Hall, Frohnmayer Music Building. Admission is free.
- On Sunday, March 16, the UO Gospel Choirs and Ensembles will perform at 5 p.m. in Beall Concert Hall, Frohnmayer Music Building. Tickets will be $5 for students and seniors and $8 for general admission. Tickets are available at the door or in advance from the UO Ticket Office, 541-346-4363.
DANCE
- The Graduate Dance Loft will be held on Friday, March 14 at 8 p.m. in the Dougherty Dance Theatre, Gerlinger Annex. Tickets will be $3 for students and seniors and $5 for general admission; tickets will be available at the door.
EXHIBITIONS
- A screening of the documentary “Agents of Change” will take place on March 19 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Allen Hall Room 221, followed by a Q & A session with director Gabriela Martínez and co-producer Sonia De La Cruz. The documentary chronicles the development of the UO Center for the Study of Women in Society and the UO Department of Women’s and Gender Studies
LECTURES
- On Friday, March 14 at 3:15 p.m., a public lecture on “Modern Music Theory: Realism and Technicity” will be given by Jairo Moreno, associate professor at the University of Pennsylvania. The lecture will be held in Room 103 of the Collier House. Admission is free.
WORKSHOPS
- A suicide prevention workshop will be held on Thursday, March 20 from 1-3 p.m. The Suicide Prevention Team and the University Counseling and Testing Center will host the event. To register for the workshop, please email Suzie Stadelman.
