Starting this month, UO travel coordinators and others using the Concur travel system may have noticed travel advisories for certain countries that are either embargoed or sanctioned by the federal government and pose higher-than-average risk with federal regulation compliance for UO personnel traveling abroad.
The advisories come via email and provide individuals with a reminder to contact officials for guidance prior to departure to these destinations. UO faculty members can also take advantage of new resources that offer guidance on what are known as “export controls,” including a new website devoted to the subject.
Export controls are federal regulations that govern the transfer of items and information and apply to UO faculty members who conduct research and other activities across international lines.
The new advisories complement existing safety messages announced last November by UO Safety and Risk Services to help alert travelers to high-risk destinations and provide them with other precautions and resources.
More information on travel is available at travel.uoregon.edu. Questions on the Concur advisories can be sent to exportcontrols@uoregon.edu.
