The UO is again sponsoring the annual DisOrient Asian American indie film festival, which will take place on campus March 14-17.

The DisOrient Asian American Film Festival showcases narrative, documentary and short films with a focus on authentic Asian American and Pacific Islander voices and stories.

The festival is programmed by a local, all-volunteer board. Organizers review hundreds of submissions and select films that celebrate inclusion, diversity and universal human experiences through the lens of Asian-American identity.

Many filmmakers will also be attending the festival, which offers an opportunity for audiences to ask questions, discover the inspiration behind the stories and learn more about important social justice issues.

A free short films program was curated to both appeal to and inspire UO students and provide a break in studying as the campus prepares to enter finals week. The free program is Saturday at 8:40 p.m. in the Erb Memorial Union’s Redwood Auditorium. No ticket is required.

More than 10 university departments are sponsoring the festival, including the Division of Equity and Inclusion, Department of Cinema Studies and Associated Students of the UO.
