May is Bike Month in Lane County and the local community can take part in a variety of activities including a bike month challenge through Get There Oregon that offers prizes.
Of special interest to University of Oregon Eugene campus employees is a free month of bike share membership from PeaceHealth Rides for new and existing riders. The program recently expanded to mark its sixth birthday by adding 100 bicycles and installing hubs in downtown Springfield, just a little over two miles from the UO.
Riders can download the PeaceHealth Rides app and sign up for the monthly plan with promo code BIKEMONTH24 by the May 18 deadline.
The Filmed by Bike Film Festival with the theme of 'Journey Better, Pedal Together' takes place May 18 in Straub Hall. Short films, including the winners of a local contest, will be screened starting at 6 p.m. The event is a fundraiser and offers food and bike repairs.
The UO Bike Program in 008 Erb Memorial Union will be distributing bike month passports for participants to collect stickers for an opportunity to win raffle prizes.
Anyone can create a ride or event and make it part of bike month. Submit the form on the bike month website for inclusion on the May is Bike Month event calendar.
