For an unrivaled sixth consecutive year, the University of Oregon will host ESPN’s College GameDay on Saturday, Sept. 6, in advance of the No. 3 Ducks facing off with the No. 8 Michigan State Spartans later that day.

The production has yet to have a five-year, let alone six-year, stretch at another university in the nation, and this will be its ninth trip to campus overall.  Kirk Herbstreit, one of the show’s hosts, has made no secret of his love for the UO and the Eugene area in comments to reporters, so GameDay’s return to Eugene should come as no surprise to the show’s followers.

The production will again be based on the memorial quadrangle, bordered by the Lillis Business Complex  and the Knight Library on the north and south and the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art and Prince Lucien Campbell Hall on the east and west.  The Lillis Business Complex and its iconic O will provide the show’s backdrop.

“This will be ESPN College GameDay’s ninth visit to our campus,” said interim UO President Scott Coltrane. “Given the success in previous years of staging on the Memorial Quad and the dedicated efforts of UO staff, we anticipate another positive experience.”

ESPN crews will arrive late Wednesday evening and set up on Thursday and Friday.  The greatest effect on the campus community will be in the Johnson Hall parking lot. 

The lot will be closed to all permit holders – reserved and visitors – from 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, through Saturday afternoon, Sept. 6.  Those who have reserved parking permits should have received notice and an alternative spot from parking services.
